Scuola Media Mazzini- LaSalle Language Academy Student Exchange

This morning I got up and I got ready to go to the John Hancock's skyscaper, but before that we spent for an hour at school. I attended the Social Studies class that was very interesting. We went to John Hancock by bus , from there we could admire the city from up above. We also tried the TILT, it's a mechanic wall in glass that titls outward over 1,000 feet above The Magnificent Mile! It was fantastic, really unique!! After that we had lunch and then we had a bit of free time to shop around in the Water Tower Shopping Centre to get some souvenirs for our families!! Stamani mi sono svegliato e preparato per andare al grattacielo John Hancock, ma prima siamo stati un'ora in classe , io ho seguito interessandomi alla lezione di scienze sociali. Siamo andati al grattacielo John Hancock in autobus, da là si può ammirare la città dall'alto. Abbiamo anche provato il TILT, una parete meccanica in vetro che si inclina esternamente  a circa 300 mt di altezza sopra il Magn

Today is Sunday and I spent all day with Abbie and her family. We went to a baseball match, White Sox vs Giants, and we had lunch with hot dogs there. The match started at midday and finished at 4 o'clock p.m. White Sox won the match. After that, we went to Little Italy, Chicago's Italian neighborhood.It isn't really similar to Italy, but there are a lot of Pizzerias. Today was a funny day and the match was good. Oggi è domenica e ho passato tutta la domenica con Abbie  e la sua famiglia. Siamo andati a vedere un partita di baseball, , White Sox contro San Francisco Giants.  e abbiamo pranzato lì con degli hot-dogs. La partita è iniziata a 12 ed è finita alla 4 di pomeriggio. Gli White Sox hanno vinto. Dopo la partita siamo andati a Little Italy, il quartiere italiano di Chicago. Non è molto simile all'Italia ma ci sono molte pizzerie.. Mi sono divertita molto oggi  e la partita è stata molto bella. Matilde

Abbiamo mandato nostra figlia di tredici anni per due settimane negli Stati Uniti e vediamo che in molti non comprendono la nostra scelta. Cosa proviamo nel saperla lontana? In primo luogo orgoglio. Orgoglio nei confronti di nostra figlia, che pensa che viaggiare verso un luogo lontano senza genitori, vivere in un’altra famiglia, abituarsi ad abitudini diverse dalle sue siano una grande occasione e non un’esperienza che spaventa. Orgoglio anche nei confronti di noi stessi, perché non ci siamo lasciati impaurire, perché l’abbiamo incoraggiata e perché abbiamo potuto farle fare questa esperienza. In secondo luogo proviamo una grande riconoscenza, nei confronti della scuola Mazzini e delle due favolose insegnanti che hanno reso possibile questa esperienza per i nostri figli. Sono pochi i ragazzi che attraverso la scuola pubblica hanno la possibilità di fare esperienze di questo livello: grazie alla passione di Graziana Di Filippantonio e Ilaria Tramonti nostra figlia è una di questi. This morning, after breakfast, Aaliyah and I went to a park near the house. After  3 0 minutes we returned home, we had lunch and then we went to the S ky zone,  a fantastic amusement park: we had so much fun!! After we went to a mall where we had lunch and we ate pretzel, they are very good!! Then we went to  Navy Pier,  where we met the Spanish students. Aaliyah, Emma Nina, Savi, Giulia, Martina and I went up on the panoramic wheel, as well as having a fantastic view on Chicago skyline we also had a lot of fun!!After dinner we also went on chairoplane. Questa mattina, dopo aver fatto colazione, io e Aaliyah siamo andate al parco vicino casae abbiamo giocato un po’ li. Dopo circa  3 0 minuti siamo tornate a casa, abbiamo pranzato e siamo andata allo S ky zone,  un parco divertimenti stupendo. Today , after we went to school with our partners, we took the train to town and we saw  a lot of Chicago ’s buildings and skyscrapers, such as: The Trump Tower, the Aqua Tower,The Marquette building and the Federal building. After that we wen to the Millennium Park. It is  very big and beautiful and there are a lot of fantastic things, like the ‘bean’ and the two fountains with faces of people from Chicago. Then we returned to our hosting families for dinner and after we watched the film ‘Matilda’ at school. I liked it very much! Oggi , dopo aver accompagnato, i nostri partner a scuola, abbiamo preso il treno e siamo andati in centro dove abbiamo visto molti dei grattacieli di Chicago tra cui: la Trump Tower, l’ Aqua Tower, il Marquette building e il Federal building. GINEVRA'S OPINION ON DAY 1 / GINEVRA RACCONTA IL I GIORNO: This morning we went to LaSalle Language Academy were we had a Welcome Breakfast with our American hosts, and then we introduced ourselves to families and Teachers. Then we took a tour of the school, it is very big!!! Then my class went to the History Museum of Chicago. I like this museum because there is the bed where Abraham Lincoln ( the American president that abolished slavery ) died. After we went to A park for lunch, I had a croissant, an orange and four little donughts. At 1 p.m., we went to Lincoln Park zoo. It is very beautful . There were many animals and I loved it!!! Then we went back to school and I met Veronica ( my American host), we went home and we had dinner. Later we went to Margie's to eat ice-cream. I'm so happy for this experience. Well, this the program of our visit here in Chicago...it's Amazing...we'll visit all the major tourist and cultural attractions in town and our students will have a deep look inside American culture. We want to thank all the American teachers and the families that made this possible and a special thank to Mrs Beth Bazer and Mrs Vincenza Rum, the principals of the two schools,  to make a dream come true. Bene, questo è il programma della nostra visita qui a Chicago...è incredibile...visiteremo tutte le maggiori attrazioni turistiche e culturali della città e i ragazzi avranno la possibilità di conoscere da vicino la cultura americana. Un ringraziamento a tutti gli insegnanti e le famiglie americane che hanno reso tutto ciò possibile e un ringraziamento speciale a Beth Bazer e la prof. Vincenza Rum, dirigenti scolastici delle due scuole che hanno trasformato il sogno in realtà.

Finalmente dopo tanto aspettare ...oggi è il grande giorno! Partiamo per Chicago...sembra un sogno ma è vero. Gli studenti della  scuola Mazzini di Livorno saranno ospiti de LaSalle Language Academy di Chicago dal 6 al 21 settembre 2017.
